Beautiful images as always James, the colour tones and the light are lovely. It was good to read the thought process behind your trips and how you approach your photography.
I don't spend that much time these day traveling to new locations instead I prefer to revisit places and really get to know them. For me there is so much to be gained from building a connection with the place I am photographing.
I really appreciate your approach and the balance you find in a hiking (walking) trip vs a photography trip. I really learned that lesson on my Foothills Trail hike where mileage was a priority. I'm interested in reading your upcoming thoughts on repeat trips to a location. I tend to look for new places and have only returned to a few more than once.
Thanks Erik, I think we all learn the hard way. There's nothing wrong with a focus on mileage and exploring new places, it will just produce different images than a slower, photography focussed approach.
In my early photography years I wanted to see all the grand places you see in National Geographic or travel magazines. Nowadays, I am happy to return to a place over and over again to see how it has changed or looks in different lights or during different season. I am not rushing from A to B anymore and it feels much more rewarding. FOMO? Not me and I am glad I don‘t have that problem.
Definitely Susanne - if you want to go deep, multiple visits is the only way to really capture the sense of a place. But sometimes I want to explore somewhere new - I just have to accept that it's a different image making process.
Thank you Shital. Yes, that photo was the last day of the walk when the low cloud had cleared and we got some really lovely soft light over the button grass plains.

Thanks you Gill - I feel my best photos come from repeat visits, but exploring somewhere new is always fun.

Thank you - many more photos coming!
