I think you are the first photographer I hear who isn’t excited about fog. James, these are just perfect. Now I want to know about the weather in part 2!
Susanne, I know, I love fog. It was so thick the light was really flat - and I was really looking forward to some alpine views. Expectations get me every time!
I totally get that. A few years ago I drove from Seattle to San Diego along the coast on Highway 1 (the scenic route). For 1 1/2 days we had nothing but fog. That wasn’t what I was hoping for either.
Beautiful images James - I love the compositions and the soft light.
Thank you Gill - appreciate the comment
This is a wonderful collection of images and i can feel the cool dampness.
Thank you Charlie - I appreciate your comment.
I am quite familiar with never being happy with the weather! 😂 However, you have made this flat light very compelling!
Thanks Erik - an occupational hazard. On another occassion I would have been estatic to have that much fog.
These are amazing shots, James! Glad to have found your Substack.
Cheers!
Thank you for reading.

I love those! Especially "path to pulpit rock" and "Some flat and boring light."
Thanks Kevin. I will be interested to see what you think of another image of the Cathedral in my next post - in very different light.
